Today's Wednesday Wisdom is brought to you by Kyle Richardson, consultant to Agility for All. Do you have a question? Post it in the comments?
Today I'm answering the question why me? And the answer really is around what we should be asking ourselves instead. So often we're looking to use that introspection tool, and what comes up is there's these why questions, like why is this happening to me? Why can I not get what I want from this situation? Why am I not getting what I want in life? And so on and so forth.
And the problem with those why questions is that they tend to lead to judgment and chain. They're shutting down, any potential for moving forward in the future. So I want to take a leaf out of the coaching book. So a self-coaching technique you can apply here, which is much better, is to still introspect.
But ask yourself what questions? Those powerful what questions, what do I want from this situation? What could I do that might make things better? What are my opportunities? That was the answer to why.
And that is today's Wednesday Wisdom. Don't forget that if you have a question post it below. Tune in next week for our next segment.

My agile journey began 8-9 years ago as part of a search to align what I do for a living with the person I want to be. I see agile first as a philosophy for life, and the way that blends with both Zen and Stoic principles allows for a more holistic work life. For me what I do is an essential part of who I am so it all needs to be done with equal kindness and compassion, upheld by a strong desire to enable others along their chosen path. Working in the software industry allows me to geek out on tech and be passionate about improving communication networks and fostering strong customer-centric cultures (after all, we are all each other’s customers in one way or another).
